Facebook is still one of the most popular social media platforms with over 1.23 billion active monthly users worldwide. Since businesses can no longer rely solely on traditional marketing methods, platforms such as Facebook have become increasingly popular among consumers. Therefore, it is an invaluable marketing tool to engage with people and build a business. However, having a Facebook page rather than a Facebook account can make all the difference in the world. Unlike an account, a page makes businesses look more official and professional. Therefore, pages are an excellent method for businesses, brands, organizations, and public figures to connect with their audience.
In this guide, we’ll show you step-by-step how to create a Facebook Page for your business the right way so you can bring traffic to your site and/or store from Facebook as well.
Using a Computer
- Go to facebook.com/pages/create
To proceed, it’s mandatory to have a personal Facebook account. So if you do not already have a Facebook account for yourself, then you will need to set one up. - Start entering your page information one by one in the panel on the left. As you do so, the page preview on the right will update in real-time.
- Type your Page’s name into the Page name field which is at the top of the left panel. The name of your Page should be the name of your organization, brand, or business.
- In the next field, enter up to three categories. A category is a word that best describes your business or content. Three categories are the limit here.
- Next, fill in the Description field. It should contain a summary of up to 255 characters (maximum) about your products, services, organization, or brand.
- If you’re happy with your page name, categories, and description, click Create Page.
- After you create the Page, you can add images, contact details (phone number, website, email address etc.), and other information. You can even connect your Facebook page to WhatsApp.
- From here, you can customize your page, invite people to like the page, create posts, and so much more.
It’s important to follow the standard social media image sizes to avoid pixelated images and awkward cropping. When you upload your profile image or the cover photo, follow these sizes:
Facebook profile image size: 170 × 170 pixels
Facebook cover photo image size: 820 × 462 pixels
Using a Mobile Device
- Open your Facebook app – It’s the blue-and-white “f” icon on the home screen or in the app drawer.
- If you aren’t logged into Facebook, enter your email address (or phone number) and password and do so.
- Once you’ve logged in, tap on the Menu which is the three horizontal lines ☰. It can be found on the top-right corner of Android devices and the bottom-right corner of iPhones and iPads.
- Afterwards, scroll down and tap Pages.
- Tap + Create which is at the top-left corner of the mobile screen.
- Next, tap the blue colour Get Started button at the bottom of the screen.
- Then choose up to 03 categories that reflect on the type of content your Facebook Page will entail and tap Next.
- Name your Page and tap Next.
- If you have a website or a blog, you can add the URL to the Enter website field and tap Next. If you don’t have a website or a blog, you can click “I don’t have a website” and leave the field blank.
- Next, add a profile picture and a cover photo. Tap Save to see a preview of your profile image and cover image together.
- Tap on the blue Done button at the bottom of the screen. The “Important Next Steps” screen will appear.
- Afterward, tap Next and follow the available on-screen instructions. You will be prompted to create a welcome post, invite friends and more. Once you’re done, you can visit your completed Facebook Page for the first time.
- To access Page Settings, tap the gear icon at the top-right corner. Here, you can edit your Page information, change your profile picture, set messaging preferences and so much more.
- Scroll down the page to access the Navigation Bar along with the top. Here, you can manage different parts of your Page like Home, Groups, Events, etc.
- Now you can tap Create a Post to create the first post of your Page.
